Kaikoura
This is a photograph of a Salvin's mollymawk preparing to land down into the water. I was in Kaikoura doing a independent project on fur seals and the on day I was leaving I heard about the Albatross encounter. We saw many different seabirds such as petrel, Mollymawks and Albatross. The reason I chose this photograph for a few reasons for example the low angle shot gives us a eye level shot of the Salvin's Mollymawk leaving a trail of water splashing in different directions. The main reason I love this photo is that these birds look so alien mainly around their distinct grey head and prominent beak.
